The Department of Internal Affairs is looking for proposals from vendors to develop its new Passport Data Retrieval Service (PDVS).
Currently, local data for lost, stolen and invalid travel documents (resulting in negative passport validation) is distributed to the Department of Labour as a batch update. But there is no service for positive passport data validation.
The PDVS will provide the Department of Internal Affairs with the capability to receive and log request messages to validate local travel documents, send and log response messages and enable reporting on key transaction information.
In the request for proposal (RFP) documents released this week, the department says it is looking for vendors who have worked with government organisations on similar projects before, with proven experience in designing, implementing and supporting high-performance software solutions. Vendors must also have experience designing and building IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solutions.
The deadline for proposals is March 20.
