Telecom swaps Cellnet for Brightstar

Telecom will replace trans-Tasman distributor Cellnet with US-headquartered giant Brightstar for mobile devices and supply chain services as it prepares to launch its new mobile network in November.

Brightstar’s global experience and scale put them in the best position to help Telecom increase choice, access and speed of new product introduction for customers, says Telecom’s general manager of mobile, Martin Butler.

“Given the number of new technology projects on the go at Telecom we have been looking at the best ways we can source and deliver wireless devices such as mobiles for our customers,” Butler says.

The new relationship will be phased in over the next six months and is expected to be up and running prior to the new network launch, Telecom says.
