GoTalk expansion on cards after buy-out

Australian headquartered GoTalk may extend its local distributor base and hire more local staff, after acquiring rival World Telecom and phonecard brands including Go Bananas, Pay Peanuts, Minute Max and Stealth.

CEO Steve Picton says the telco uses a combination of direct and partner sales on both sides of the Tasman, and plans to begin discussions with New Zealand distributors in the next two to three months.

The only current distributor here for the company is Synnex, which offers Ezichat phones and recharge cards.

“We’ll be recruiting our own employees locally and will be going through distributors such as Synnex and others.

“The positioning will mean broader distribution in the mass market and the need to augment distributors, with direct representation as well. World Telecom is servicing everything from dairies to corporates.”

Picton adds it has not yet discussed World Telecom's products with Synnex.
