Synnex has netted its first laptop range, as the company adds two major brands to its stable.
The company is now the third local distributor for Asus notebooks, while also taking on the manufacturer’s LCD monitors.
In addition, it has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for Samsung Pleomax PC accessories.
Country manager Richard Harri says Synnex decided to partner with Asus due to its existing strong relationship as a component supplier.
“There are a wide range of models that are of high quality and appealing to both the commercial and consumer market.”
The deal is significant as the company now has its first branded notebook, says Harri.
Asus notebooks are also distributed by Morningstar and Ingram Micro, while the LCD monitors are available through Morningstar.
But Harri says the deal will simplify the ordering process for the channel, as they no longer have to go to different companies.
“Synnex holds a deep and wide range of stock across all of our key vendor agencies. We will provide the reseller with access to stock where and when they need it. Synnex is proactively looking to grow the Asus business in the SME dealer and VAR market.”
Ted Chen, Asus managing director for Australia and New Zealand, says Synnex’s appointment was based on the initial success of the company’s component business. “The appointment was made to ensure the same continued growth with our other key product lines. Synnex will hold a wide range of our product to ensure that local opportunities are maximised.”
Meanwhile, Harri says Samsung Pleomax designs and manufactures a quality range of PC peripherals.
“This is our first exclusive brand and as such we will focus on helping Samsung gain market exposure, particularly into the [retail] channel.”
He adds Pleomax also has a range of dry-cell batteries and eco-friendly light bulbs, which Synnex may look at distributing in the future.
“Having been appointed an Asus notebook distributor, we will also be looking to bundle accessories to complete the reseller solution.”
