SAP tips local SME programme uptake

SAP expects its new global, small and medium business-focused referral and incentive programme to be popular locally, once promotion of it gets into full swing in the next couple of months.

New Zealand managing director Ian Black says the company wants to let existing partners know about the scheme as part of a soft launch, but will market it fully across Australia and New Zealand in May and June.

“It’s going to be popular as this is part of a long-term strategy for us. We’ve got quite a few products for SMEs coming to market,” says Black, citing the example of the on-demand Business by Design service due to be launched here next year.

The SAP Referral programme, launched globally in early April, allows partners and others interested in working with SAP to register sale leads via a new web portal. If the lead meets eligibility rules, they can gain a reward of five percent of the deal’s net software licence value on closing.

The portal also has programme information, sales material and e-learning tools.

As well as existing resellers and independent software vendors, the scheme is open to potential partners such as business consultants and accounting firms.

Each country decides which software is eligible for sales rewards, with Black saying New Zealand generally includes any software sold and supported locally
