The Department of Internal Affairs in Wellington is looking for a vendor with experience in specialist housing for ICT server, storage and communications hardware.
According to request for quotation (RFQ) documents released this week, the department is looking to decommission its two main Wellington based production server rooms moving the ICT equipment housed at these sites to a vendor managed specialised environment.
According to the RFQ, the project is driven by the need to address the risks to the Department from operating computer suites that have environmental control systems issues due to age and that are reaching or have reached their capacity.
Although the scope of the project does not extend to the migration of the Auckland disaster recovery site, the selected vendor must be able to contract and demonstrate the provision of a separate site suitable for disaster recovery purposes.
The department does not need the vendor to manage the housed equipment but wants the premises connected to the Citylink network with Dark Fibre connectivity and able to be connected to the Government Shared Network.
It is looking for sites that are accessible within a 30-35 kilometre radius from the Wellington CBD. The site must be able to house a minimum of 18 racks and approximately 180 servers, plus five cabinets of associated network devices.
The deadline fore replies is Monday, June 23. More details are available on the Government Electronic Tenders website under ICCNZ reference 22084.
