Distributor Altech has brought vendor Antec’s range of case, power supply, component and peripherals to New Zealand, extending a long-term relationship in Australia.
During a recent visit to Auckland, a product showcase by the vendor and distributor included the local launch of new Antec Veris multimedia stations. The offering combines an infrared receiver and software for media management, to help with home theatre system building.
Altech is also continuing a track record of early adoption, by taking on Mtron solid state drives (SSD) in New Zealand and Australia.
Marketing manager Kevin Hartin says the market will be initially limited because the technology is still emerging.
“The technology is new and it’s still being rapidly developed, but also it’s a fairly high cost of entry. A [standard] drive that costs $100 you could expect a similar capacity [SSD] drive to cost $1000.”
Hartin says there will be niche audiences such as the high-end mobile market, which is seeking more robust, low power and no-noise drives, with increased performance.
