Apple reseller Magnum Mac, owned by Renaissance, has acquired Hamilton reseller Penmark.
Trading as Techniq, Penmark is an Apple-dedicated business that was founded as AppleCentre Waikato in 1998.
The business becomes a Magnum Mac-branded branch from today.
Penmark director Mark Blackwell has joined the Magnum Mac team and will continue to manage the Hamilton operation.
In a statement, Magnum Mac general manager Murray Wood says there is a strong synergy between Magnum Mac and Penmark, adding the two businesses will complement each other. “We also believe the combined expertise and operations of the companies will be able to provide greater benefits to our respective customers and suppliers.”
Blackwell says the merger will combine Penmark’s regional strengths in the Hamilton area with Magnum Mac’s national coverage.
Magnum Mac has branches in Auckland, Albany, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and New Plymouth.
Apple distributor Renaissance bought Magnum Mac for $3.5 million in June, 2007.
