Apple adds movies to iTunes Store

New Zealanders now have the ability to rent and purchase movies from the iTunes Store, Apple has announced.

Movies from several major studios are being made available including 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), Sony Pictures Television International and Lionsgate.

The store kicks off with over 700 films for rent or purchase. Like the US store, new release titles will be available for purchase on the same day as their DVD release.

Customers have up to 30 days to start watching a rental movie, and once a movie has been started you have 48 hours to finish it. There are over 100 titles available in stunning high definition.

iTunes movies in New Zealand start at $9.99 for catalog title purchases, $17.99 for recent releases and $24.99 for new releases. iTunes Movie Rentals are $4.99 for library title rentals and $6.99 for new releases, and high definition versions cost one dollar more.
