CodeBlue still on nationwide growth track

Services company CodeBlue has established a branch in Hawkes Bay, with five-year-old local IT firm Logical Technology re-branding to trade as CodeBlue Hawkes Bay.

The branch is Auckland-based CodeBlue’s fifth after companies in Hamilton, Christchurch and Wellington adopted the group’s branding in the past two years, in what CEO Ken Davis describes as similar to a franchise model.

Davis says his company’s strategy is to open more branches in a bid to achieve nationwide coverage and effective local service.

“It provides customers with the best of both worlds. They get their local trusted advisor and local people, but by being part of a national organisation there’s a lot bigger skill base and resources we can bring to bear on projects.”

The Hawkes Bay firm has three staff and there are now about 43 across all CodeBlue branches.

CodeBlue’s priority areas for future branches are the larger regional centres such as Whangarei, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Nelson and Dunedin Davis says. It provides much of the administration centrally, so branches are free to focus on customer relationships, he says.

CodeBlue assessed other Hawkes Bay companies, but Davis says the quality of technical skill at Logical was a deciding factor in reaching the agreement to become a CodeBlue branch.

“Our strategy is around the quality of people and their technical capability. We’ve done a bit of work with them and there’s a high degree of mutual respect.”

Reseller News was unable to contact Logical Technology director Marcus Smith prior to deadline.
