Digicor strengthens storage market reach

Trans-Tasman distributor Digicor has added Promise Technology and Open-E to its stable of storage brands, to complement the existing Infotrend range.

New Zealand sales manager Craig Willis says Promise will allow the company to get deeper into both networked or direct attached storage, while Linux-based Open-E means it can “get into the serious end of the NAS market”.

“They just give us alternatives. We find with Promise and Infotrend the offerings are remarkably similar, but people might have a preference for one or the other,” Willis says.

The distributor has also expanded its line of Super Micro servers.

Digicor’s Melbourne-based purchasing manager Cathy Gu adds that Digicor’s New Zealand arm is building share in the full custom-build market, and is on track to replicate the Australian business split between custom builds and components of 80 and 20 percent respectively.

Willis says the demand for complete system builds has already overtaken the supply of components.
