D-Link gets strategic on SME storage partnerships

D-link wants to work more closely with partners to bring recently-released SAN and NAS arrays to market.

Commercial business manager Carla Thornton told a recent channel event in Auckland that the vendor aims to develop joint marketing plans and offer assistance with client functions, not-for-resale products and offer preferential pricing.

“Our strategy is to work with [resellers] as individual companies and work out a business plan based on your customer base and where you want to grow your business,” she says.

The recent SAN offerings include the DSN-3200 series of chassis, connected via four, eight or 10 Gigabit iSCSI interfaces, with between eight and 15 SATA drive bays. They are locally available, with retail prices likely to range from about $8500 for an eight-bay configuration to about $13,000 for 15 bays.

As they are sold without hard drives, Thornton says the products are a chance for resellers to bundle drives. Partners can also be the main point of contact for support, with help from D-Link, she says.

D-Link is encouraging partners to register their interest early to ensure product supply for customers and to complete specialist product training.

The recently-launched NAS enclosure range, comprising the DNS-313, 323 and 343, vary from one to four SATA bays.
