Xero clocks up 2000th customer

Xero has secured its 2000th paying customer for its online accounting software.

The company says while it took 18 months from start-up to get its first 1000 customers, signing up the next 1000 took just four and a half months.

CEO Rod Drury says he is delighted the company had reached this milestone, adding growth continued to be strong during the traditionally quiet period for accounting systems changeover.

“While still early days, we are seeing the inevitable transition of small businesses moving to online software and the word-of-mouth effect beginning to kick in,” he claims.

The company states it is looking to ensure it is well positioned for the key New Zealand accounting software changeover at the end of the financial year in March 2009, as well as working on activities for Xero's international target markets.
