German data security company Utimaco has opened its first Australia and New Zealand office in Sydney, aiming to grow its local profile.
Utimaco already has international partnership agreements with Sophos and Lenovo that extend to the region, and A/NZ regional manager Colin Lim was keen to meet with potential partners at Microsoft’s TechEd event this week, being held in Auckland. “We’re definitely looking for more resellers to help us market [the company] into the region.”
Utimaco was started 25 years ago with its head office in Oberusel, Germany.
Lim says the device independence of its product sets its data security offering apart. “We can bring it all together into one centrally-managed console through the whole organisation, which is different from some of our competitors. The company is well respected in the US and Europe and Asia Pacific is the next goal.”
He adds that feedback from Sophos and Lenovo suggests there is a significant opportunity in New Zealand.
“Our relationship with Sophos is going to help us get into certain accounts. We are a very channel-focused organisation and we’re keen to talk to resellers in that data security space as we believe data security is the next big opportunity.”
Utimaco may consider a New Zealand office in future, says Lim.
