Chillisoft has had a record year to date, celebrating its tenth anniversary this month, boosting staff numbers and settling into new, larger Auckland premises.
Of the eight months of its financial year so far, five have produced better turnover than ever before, director Geoff Cossey says.
The new offices, in the distinctive D72 building on Auckland’s Dominion Rd, now house 14 staff and will soon cater for 16, he says.
“It’s still nice and central for our staff, and it’s 50 percent bigger. It just feels like a much nicer space for us to be in.”
The two additional staff – business development managers – will help the distributor be more proactive in securing new business, says Cossey.
“[We] have been reactive and not proactive in seeing growth opportunities. We’ve been trying to keep up with demand, but want to be more proactive about what we want to achieve in our future. [The new staff] will be specifically looking for new business opportunities and channel partners.”
The Eset Nod32 security agency is a particular area of growth for Chillisoft, for which it has built up a base of about 700 to 800 resellers and continually gets partner applications for, Cossey says.
The distributor now wants to be more targeted in its recruitment of partners for this business. “We’ll look at particular areas of the market and look at where we’re under-represented geographically and in terms of the marketplace.”
Cossey says Chillisoft’s extranet is as much an attraction for resellers as the agencies it represents. The extranet automates licensing renewals and lets partners see the status of licences held by their customers.
