Unisys chooses former SAP exec as A/NZ MD

Unisys has appointed a senior SAP executive, David Barnes, as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand. Barnes was most recently chief operating officer of SAP in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and has returned to his native Australia to take up the Sydney-based role. In his seven years at SAP, Barnes held several senior leadership roles including chief financial officer. Unisys says as managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Barnes will be responsible for the operations, customer satisfaction and overall financial performance of the New Zealand and Australian business. He will also hold a key operational role within the company’s overall Asia Pacific region. In a statement, Andrew Barkla, vice president and general manager of Unisys Asia Pacific, said Barnes will continue the company’s strategy of focusing on the financial services, public sector and transportation segments. According to Unisys, Barnes has held senior commercial and financial roles in a broad range of companies in Australia, the US and Europe in industries such as telecommunications, distribution, corporate travel and recruitment.
