Stats NZ to implement Internet Collection System

Statistics New Zealand in Christchurch seeks a vendor to develop an Internet Collection System (ICS) in time for the 2011 census.

According to request for information documents released this week the vendor needs to develop, integrate and support the ICS.

The ICS will provide part of the census data capture operation while paper questionnaires will cover the rest. Statistics NZ intends to utilise the high level of internet access in New Zealand to allow both households and individuals the option of completing their questionnaires online.

Statistics New Zealand envisages that the number of online users in 2011 will be approximately 520,000, of which at least 50 percent may logon on census day.

The deadline for replies is Thursday, October 29. More details are available on the Government Electronic Tenders website under ICCNZ reference 23578.
