Bigwood to step up as Miley crosses Tasman

Ingram Micro New Zealand managing director Jay Miley is leaving the country to become the distributor’s Sydney-based vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Miley will be replaced locally by Gary Bigwood, who is currently general manager of the distributor’s volume products division. He will report directly to Miley.

Miley has been heading Ingram Micro’s local operation since January 2007 and has been with the company for over 14 years.

Bigwood meanwhile joined Ingram Micro after it acquired Tech Pacific in 2004. He has held a number of roles in both the customer management and vendor management areas, and is a long-term member of the company’s senior executive team.

While unavailable for comment as he is travelling, Miley said in a statement that Bigwood is an ideal candidate to head up the local operation. “Gary’s extremely capable and well-respected both internally and externally. He’s got a wealth of experience in the local market and has been key in a number of the initiatives we’ve put in place since I arrived. It’s great to have a trusted and experienced hand at the wheel.”

Announcing the move today, Ingram Micro says during his time in New Zealand Miley has focused on a wide range of initiatives aimed at continually improving the service Ingram Micro offers its reseller and vendor partners.

Miley is replacing Guy Freeland, who will leave his post at the end of the year.
