AVG resellers forecast sun, less gloom

Results from a survey of more than 440 AVG resellers in Australia and New Zealand reveal a largely positive outlook, with almost nine in 10 expecting to increase security system sales in the next 12 months.

According to the survey more than one in five resellers (22 percent) expect to more than double their sales, while another 18 percent expect sales to increase by between 50 and 99 percent. Only about 12 percent of resellers forecast AVG sales to be the same and just six resellers thought they would sell less.

AVG Australia and New Zealand marketing manager Lloyd Borrett says resellers are optimistic, as they are capitalising on the company’s increased popularity in the market.

“Eighty-four percent of our new customers are switching from another product. I think our resellers are tapping into the fact that people are disgruntled with so many of the other solutions and are switching,” he claims.

Borrett adds that resellers are a good barometer of business sentiment and buying intentions.

“Their optimism about sales growth indicates that security will be an area people continue to invest in.”

About 10 to 15 percent of the resellers surveyed were from New Zealand.

“We were extremely surprised at how many resellers completed the survey. It was a long, detailed 16-page survey,” he says.

AVG has more than 2000 resellers across A/NZ and the South Pacific.

The survey also found the most important features to resellers and their customers where low system overhead (important to 94 percent of respondents), renewal income (86 percent), priority reseller access (84 percent), two-year licence (83 percent) and low cost (82 percent).

Borrett says AVG is doing well in the A/NZ market and getting huge growth in its reseller base.

“It’s close to 100 percent growth in our reseller base in the past 12 months. Across the board we are finding resellers like what we are doing and switching customers over to us,” he claims.

As a result of the survey feedback, AVG will be making improvements to its reseller programme that the company plans to announce soon.
