Planwell goes premier with AlarmPoint

Planwell Technology has become the first local premier partner for US-based vendor AlarmPoint Systems.

AlarmPoint Systems is a new entrant in the region, having established a presence in Australia four months ago with the appointment of David Wall as its Sydney-based director for Asia Pacific.

Wall says while his aim is to develop AlarmPoint Systems’ business across the entire Asia Pacific region, his initial focus will be on Australia and New Zealand. “They are mature in their adoption of technology. Once we have secured partnerships there, we will be ready to hit Asia.”

The company’s first major partner here is Auckland-based IT service management specialist Planwell, which was introduced to AlarmPoint’s notification management offering through its partnership with BMC.

According to Wall, BMC is a long-standing technology partner to AlarmPoint Systems and has been responsible for signing up most of its existing local customers. “BMC’s salesforce has been able to sell Alarm Point.”

Planwell also has a long-term relationship with BMC, as it has operated in the IT service management space for more than 15 years, says the company’s account manager Ben David, adding AlarmPoint fits well into its core business.

He says AlarmPoint Systems’ regional presence has been a boost. “We have seen a big push since David came on board – it is becoming a solution with real potential in the market.”

Wall says Planwell has made a big investment in AlarmPoint, which has led to its rapid promotion to premier partner status.

The company sent 12 staff to Sydney to train on the suite and has invested in three staff to provide level-one support and nine professional services staff, says Wall. “Planwell is providing full AlarmPoint coverage.”

AlarmPoint Systems will look to recruit other partners that have skills in IT service management, says Wall.

Meanwhile, Planwell aims to partner with hosted service providers around the AlarmPoint’s offering, which Wall says enables them to lower costs, while providing better value to customers.

AlarmPoint’s system sits on top of IT management systems and extends their notification and escalation capabilities, says Wall. “Most systems focus on alerts and not on managing notifications and resolutions, which is what Alarm Point offers.”

The company has strategic relationships with all four main vendors of such suites, BMC, CA, HP and IBM, says Wall.
