Axon wins 1,500-seat deal at PGG Wrightson

PGG Wrightson has awarded a three-year contract for desktop technology procurement, imaging and support for its 1500-seat network to Axon following an RFP. Axon will provide an end-to-end supply chain that includes lifecycle management, enhanced warranty and post-warranty support, and guaranteed service levels for users.

By standardising procurement, PGG Wrightson expects to reduce its spend on both procurement and support.

Cost reduction was not the only driver. The company wanted to avoid the large investment that would have been necessary to bring its own internal provisioning processes up to the level of service required by the business.

“It would have cost us a great deal to rework our internal processes to properly meet provisioning demand,” says CIO Bruce Tinsley.

PGG Wrightson is using the outsourcing contract to reduce the time taken to provision desktop devices and printers for its users from the current 15 to 20 days to a maximum of three days.

“We will be able to improve service levels to our users and reduce our total cost of technology ownership at the same time,” Tinsley says.

When a user asks for a new machine, PGG Wrightson passes the call to Axon, which takes the machine out of buffer stock, images it and supplies to the customer.

Axon completes the provisioning process by following up with the end user to make sure all is well. All the processes are guaranteed to be completed in a maximum of two to three days, no matter where the user is located.

“We like the cost benefits of being able to leverage Axon’s buying power,” Tinsley says.

Axon CEO Scott Green says the new contract is one of the first fruits of a major redevelopment and relaunch of the Axonline procurement system, completed during the year.
