Lenovo has increased its distributor family with the appointment of Datastor for its newly-introduced ThinkServer range. Datastor joins Ingram Micro, which has added the new range to its other Lenovo offerings.
The ThinkServer line is Lenovo's first foray into servers, which the company says suit small and medium businesses requiring high levels of storage. Lenovo country manager Dean Butchers says Datastor will provide business partners with additional choice. “They're the distributor for VMware in this market and it's a way of very succinctly allowing us to expand into the server market.” Stocks became available locally a week ago through both distributors, he says.
Datastor sales and marketing manager Dave Rosenberg says Datastor's business in the past has involved data in the data centre, and the only part it hasn’t traditionally done is a server.
“It's a missing link. Lenovo fits into this brand and area and what we're doing with the green data centre.”
He adds that it will complement Datastor's other server offerings - IBM's P series and Blade servers.
