Fujitsu wins $4m Dept of Labour deal

The Department of Labour has selected Fujitsu to manage many of its servers and related infrastructure and services.

The department anticipates the initial term of the contract will be for three years, with provision for further extensions at the department’s discretion.

Pam Madgwick, director information, told the MIS 100 last year that the department was a confident outsourcer of IT functions, using a range of providers. Key providers at the time were EDS, Gen-i, Datacom and AT&T.

She said reviews of sourcing arrangements continued as contracts become due for renewal.

Key IT projects for 2008 included an ICT infrastructure upgrade, business intelligence and data warehousing and ICT for major business-change programmes, she said. The department was completing a project to replace terminals in the Citrix environment and with PCs on a standard network environment.

Other projects from 2007 are ongoing, such as business continuity and disaster recovery and mobilisation. Website redevelopment is also on the agenda.
