Portables Plus acquires two more Digital Mobile franchises

Portables Plus has acquired a shareholding in two more business to business Digital Mobile franchises. The latest acquisition means it operates a total of four such franchises.

Portables Plus managing director Tony Fitzgerald says Portables Plus’ expansion into combined telco and IT services means it can provide mobile, landline, VoIP phone systems and networking, as well as Vodafone added value services.

“It’s a natural synergy for the company,” says Fitzgerald, “and we intend to continue to raise the bar when it comes to offering improved communication solutions to our customers.”

The Digital Mobile partnership provides Portables Plus with new channel opportunities and an enhanced sales force for its traditional mobile computing products and services, says Fitzgerald.

Portables Plus has been in the laptop market for 15 years and in recent years has moved towards serving remote workers’ needs. Fitzgerald says the move has allowed Portables Plus to continue its expansion into remote communication services, a strategy that has been taking shape over the last 18 months.

“Since December we’ve had an additional 23 staff join our team,” says Fitzgerald. “Our growth strategy has allowed us to retain most of the staff brought across from the acquisition and we’ll be looking to make new appointments as we continue our expansion plans."
