Microsoft targets small businesses with server

Microsoft New Zealand is going after the small business market with a new server offering for businesses with up to 15 users.

According to the company, Windows Server 2008 Foundation provides a cost effective application platform that delivers basic server functionality, including file/print sharing and remote access.

Windows Server product manager Tovia Va’aelua says 87 percent of New Zealand companies employ less than five staff, making small businesses the cornerstone of the local economy.

"Businesses who haven’t previously deployed a server will be able to better share information and resources across their business in a secure environment, as well as run important business applications for enhanced productivity."

He claims new products like Foundation and Business Productivity Suite Online are helping local companies strengthen their business by increasing productivity and reducing costs.
