Microsoft has unveiled a partner programme with a difference.
The racing-themed Formula5 offers medium and small-business focused resellers prizes and personalised training to help them achieve revenue targets.
Thirty partners have been selected to take part, including Maclean Computing, Acquire, Eagle, Lexel Systems and Datasouth.
During the launch event in Auckland last night,, Microsoft’s Carlos Martinez said large resellers such as Axon and Gen-i are ineligible.
“It’s game on, because this is a real competition that you can actually win at.”
Five nominated representatives from the companies selected are eligible to compete in the Formula5 competition, with a number of different prizes up for grabs.
The Champion’s Award is for the organisation that sells the most new open value agreements between March 2 and May 29. It is a single, all-expenses paid trip to Microsoft’s worldwide partner conference in New Orleans.
There is an overall company prize for the five companies that achieve the highest year on year revenue growth. Ten staff members will get to spend a day at Pukekohe race track racing in a V8 Holden supercar.
As well, five companies per month can win an Xbox 360, drive controller and games until June. The winners qualify by exceeding year on year unit growth during the month.
Finally, when partners attend monthly sales and technical training sessions they will each receive a $50 Caltex fuel card.
Microsoft has assigned 'pit crews' who will each be responsible for three partners. “Any successful racing team is a combination,” says Martinez. “We will come out to your workplace every month and get you revved up.”
Partner director John Bessey says the company wants to help partners achieve sales through the tougher economic times everyone is facing. “This is a New Zealand initiative and we hope it will become an international programme for Microsoft.”
