Harvey Norman sales rise despite retail pressures

ASX-listed Harvey Norman has reported a 3.6 percent rise in sales across its New Zealand, Australian, Slovenian and Irish franchises and outlets, for the nine months to 31 March over the corresponding period last year. Sales for the period totalled A$4.5 billion. Sales in these regions totalled A$1.39 billion for the third quarter, a 3.9 percent increase on the same quarter last year. Chief financial officer Chris Mentis says retail margins continue to be under pressure because of current macroeconomic conditions.
