Orcon has launched an SME telecoms package that will be available on its unbundled exchanges in Auckland and central Wellington.
The service is offered in conjunction with its Orcon@Work+ network.
CEO Scott Bartlett claims the service will bring about change and introduce competition in the small business telecoms market.
"Business customers ask `why am I charged for local calls at work when I am not at home?', and `why is my phone line rental so much more expensive?'. We wanted to change all of that."
The packages are targeted at businesses with up to four staff who find one phone and one data line are not enough. Small businesses who sign up to the Orcon+ network will be able to add up to two lines for voice, eftpos or fax for only $25 each a month. This compares with what is said to be Telecom's price of $51.95 per month for extra line rental.
