Trend Micro finalises Third Brigade purchase

Trend Micro has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Third Brigade, a privately-held security and compliance software company based in Ottawa, Canada.

According to Trend Micro, the company is buying the business to accelerate its datacentre security strategy. Its customers will also get access to security and compliance software, as well as vulnerability response services.

The acquisition is subject to certain approvals and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2009. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Third Brigade president and CEO Wael Mohamed says the companies share a common vision for extending security and compliance techniques across physical, virtual and cloud computing environments.

“We’re proud and excited to be part of the Trend Micro team.”
