Dodds trades F5 for Bluecoat

Former F5 regional sales manager Michael Dodds has joined Bluecoat as country and large enterprise account manager.

At a function in Auckland last night to announce how the security vendor can help resellers, Bluecoat said that Dodds arrival meant there were now three staff serving the local market.

Dodds and sales engineer Joshua Alcock were due to begin with Bluecoat on Tuesday.

Dodds says he was “poached” by Bluecoat but adds that he is leaving F5 on good terms.

“There’s no hard feelings there at all. My relationship with Bluecoat goes back many years. I used to sell the NetApp NetCache product. They wanted me to come on board about two and a half years ago.”

He says the timing wasn’t right, so he joined F5.

“I’ve had a good time at F5 and really liked it. I had a look at Bluecoat and liked the direction they are going, and the depth of the product.”

Dodds adds that he sees working for Bluecoat as a great opportunity.

“It’s going to be an exciting role and I look forward to joining them next week.”

Reseller News has not yet been able to contact F5’s Australian representative on whether Dodds will be replaced.
