Ingres and Solnet Solutions team up

US-based open source database management company Ingres has signed a local distribution agreement with integration provider Solnet Solutions.

The deal means Solnet can now offer open source IT offerings at a lower cost to customers. According to the company, use of open source offerings provides many benefits to customers including interoperability, lower costs, and high availability.

Solnet managing director Mark Botherway says providers such as Ingres can offer alternatives to proprietary providers.

“It may not be the answer to every problem, but there are numerous opportunities in most enterprises to begin to take advantage of the flexibility and economics of open source options.”

Ingres A/NZ sales director Peter Fletcher says Solnet has a proven track record for delivery quality offerings.

“They are one of the few New Zealand integrators capable of servicing large corporations and government departments.”
