BorderWare Technologies acquired by WatchGuard

WatchGuard Technologies has acquired privately owned Canadian company BorderWare Technologies, an email and security content provider.

WatchGuard Technologies CEO Joe Wang says the acquisition will allow the company to extend its security offerings.

“By acquiring BorderWare’s best in class messaging, content security and innovative `in-the cloud’ security offerings, customers will now have a single source for comprehensive and complete security.”

Infonetics Research network security principal analyst Jeff Wilson says the combined company will be well positioned to meet different customer requirements.

“WatchGuard has a history of technology and market leadership in the multifunction security appliance space, and BorderWare offers email, messaging, content and web security offerings. The threat landscape is changing dramatically and customers are demanding easy to use solutions with advanced firewall, VPN, web and messaging security.”

No immediate changes will be made to BorderWare products, customer support and channel programmes.
