Acer has formally announced the appointment of Synnex to distribute Gateway in New Zealand, an extension of an agreement across the Tasman.
Synnex country manager Richard Harri says the company wants to rebrand Gateway, which he says is a "truly household name".
“The range of notebooks encompasses products that are designed for consumers who are style conscious but do not want to have to sacrifice performance. From entry level netbooks through to the high end gaming notebooks the range definitely look the part and have performance to match,” says Harri.
Acer country manager Mark Dalton says the Gateway range will boost Acer's position in the New Zealand market.
"We believe that our combined scale will lead to significant efficiencies and will help reach our current goal of becoming number one PC vendor within New Zealand.”
Retailers will stock the notebooks from Acer, while Synnex will supply the reseller channel.
The first locally available products include the LT, NV, EC, ID and P-79 FX series PCs.
Acer acquired Gateway in late 2007.
