TeamTalk group profit up 3.4 percent

Listed telecommunications company TeamTalk has posted a group profit of $3.8 million for the year to June, a rise of 3.4 percent.

Managing director David Ware says the result is due to a strong business model and its diversification strategy.

“Three years ago we were exclusively a mobile radio company. Had we not diversified, we would have been standing alongside many of our mobile radio customers and fielding the full brunt of the economic downturn.”

Ware says it is now positioned as a niche player in the telecommunications market.

“Our premier product is broadband access which is at the bricks and mortar end of what is the fastest growing segment of the telecommunications market. Today our mobile radio services contribute less than 50 percent of our revenue.”

He adds that its prospects over the next 18 months will be influenced by the implementation of the Government telecommunications strategy.

“As a small, agile niche player with less than one percent of the market we are well positioned to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.”
