Nelson DHB ditches ageing patient records system

In a bid to update its patient records, the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (NMDHB) is replacing a system that dates back to 1994. According to tender documents released this week, the DHB’s current system can not cope with data levels and modifications.

It needs a new emergency department information set up that will replace paper based records. The future system should support data collection and retrieval and allow for 10 percent growth in data volume every year.

The DHB will be replacing a number of legacy IT systems in the future so more tenders are to be issued.

The deadline for replies is Friday, October 2. More details are available on the Government Electronic Tenders website under ICCNZ reference 27120.
