The Telephone Company teams with ShoreTel

IP-based communications systems vendor ShoreTel has signed Dunedin's The Telephone Company to its base of South Island resellers.

The Telephone Company has a business department and a retail presence with an Orb Communications store (part of Telecom's dealer network). It outsources large orders to voice, data, image and multimedia specialist distributor Connect NZ and works with a number of contractors in the Otago region.

The Telephone Company provides of telephony service and support, particularly in the accounting, law, and business sectors in Otago. It says it reviewed several other vendors but found ShoreTel was most closely aligned to its core values.

“We found that both the ShoreTel solution and business approach placed the company far ahead of the competition in meeting the needs of New Zealand companies,” says Michael Smith, senior sales manager for The Telephone Company. “Local businesses want high-quality telephony, a low total cost of ownership, easy scalability and long-term productivity gains. We’re anticipating that this offering will help The Telephone Company grow significantly.”

Under the agreement, The Telephone Company plans initially to source ShoreTel's offerings from Connect NZ, but to source directly from ShoreTel by next quarter.

ShoreTel’s managing director for Southeast Asia, Vasili Triant, says the relationship with The Telephone Company will further expand ShoreTel’s share of the growing New Zealand market for telephony solutions.

“The Telephone Company is a trusted communications specialist with more than 16 years in the industry and an extensive understanding of the New Zealand market, particularly in the Otago region,” Mr. Triant says.
