F5 finds new local feet

F5 Networks has recruited sales engineer Warren Millard as its sole New Zealand-based employee, electing at this stage not to replace the regional sales director role vacated by Michael Dodds in May.

Millard has spent the past seven years at Gen-i as a security specialist and product development manager.

F5’s ANZ managing director Kurt Hansen says the vendor’s priority was to hire a technical person to support its enterprise customers and the channel.

“With some major customers like Air New Zealand, and the channel, they need a lot of help on the technical side. One of the reasons we hired Warren was he’s also spent some time doing product development at Gen-I so he’s got a good business head as well.”

F5 will “definitely be recruiting others” in New Zealand, says Hansen. “In the January quarter we’ll be looking closely at how we can get our next head count in.”

The vendor was pleased to record global revenue growth for the financial year to 30 September over the previous year, Hansen says. It reported revenue of $653.1 million for the year, up from $650 million the previous financial year.
