Microbe wins eScan distribution

Security distributor Microbe has secured distributorship of eScan, the flagship product of anti-virus and content protection vendor Microworld.

The distribution deal already covered Australia but has been extended to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

“We want eScan to be one of the top three preferred information security brands in Oceania by 2011,” says Microworld vice-president of global sales and marketing Sunil Kripalani. “This partnership with Microbe New Zealand will help us accelerate our plans by tapping into Microbe’s network of more than 1200 active channel partners.”

Microbe country manager Ivan Rasquinha says the distributor has about 300 resellers locally. It is already a distributor for another security vendor, Kaspersky.

“The fast-growing anti-virus and content security software market within the Oceania region is undoubtedly ready for eScan,” Rasquinha says.

“SOHO [small office and home office], SMB and enterprise business customers throughout New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands will benefit as we make eScan products extensively available to our existing and new channel partners.”

Auckland-based Computer Solutions has been distributing eScan, saying it became a Microworld partner about five years ago and a distributor last year.

Microworld’s eScan territory manager Syed Tahir Hassan says following Microbe’s appointment, Computer Solutions will become either a sub-distributor or reseller.
