Key integrators dominate MIS Strategic 100’s NZ 15

Axon, Datacom and Gen-i feature among a list of the 15 most tactically important local IT operators, selected by a panel of industry experts.

The New Zealand list was part of the annual MIS Strategic 100, which also includes a list of 75 global IT companies selected by 30 judges in the Asia Pacific region.

New Zealand judging panel members included IDC country manager Ullrich Loeffler, ICT consultant Garth Biggs, Forrester analyst Tim Sheedy, Air New Zealand CIO Julia Raue and Longhaus research director Sam Higgins.

Axon was joined in the local top 15 rankings by Datacom, Fronde, Gen-i and Intergen. Also among the list was services company Optimation, infrastructure specialist Revera and the Simpl Group.

These companies were joined by fibre optic provider CityLink, software firm Jade and Kordia.

With revenue of $94 million for the financial year ending October 2008, Axon’s customers include Air New Zealand and Kordia, according to the Strategic 100 New Zealand Profiles in CIO magazine. Datacom posted revenue of $609 million for the year ending March 2009, and its customers include New Zealand Post, Air New Zealand and ASB.

Fronde counts several Government ministries among its customers, and had $27 million in revenue for the March 2009 financial year, while Gen-i serves Fonterra, New Zealand Post and Westpac, among others, and has $1.5 billion in revenue, according to the profiles.

The report features in the December/January issue of CIO.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
