Motion Computing expands Simms distribution deal

Mobile computing provider Motion Computing has appointed Simms International as a local distributor of its rugged Tablet PCs and accessories. The company has been working with Simms Australia since May 2009.

Motion Computing ANZ regional sales manager Brett Gross says Simms is an experienced partner who that work closely with Motion to expand its regional business in the corporate, government and health sectors.

“Together, we can cement and enhance the Motion brand in New Zealand through identified opportunities and by “exporting” existing Australian customer deployments to their New Zealand counterparts. There are some companies in Australia that have branches in New Zealand but we also wanted to look at similar local organisations."

Motion Computing works with partners including Gen-i, iSoft and Master Business Solutions but Gross says it doesn't plan to have a defined number of partners.

"Generally we find some partners work in a sub zone vertical such as iSoft which works in healthcare so there is no clash."

There are no plans to offer the tablets through retailers.

"The reason is that it's a solution based application, there's no keyboard attached to the tablet. It really suits a niche market such as a community nurse who would use our tablet."

According to Simms managing director Paul Johnston, Motion is a leader in the tablet PC industry.

“We welcome the opportunity to help them grow their customer base by delivering tailored solutions to users that rely on powerful computing solutions that offer durability and functionality in lightweight, mobile devices.”
