Change at the top for Quicken

Katie Cotcher has replaced Kerry Wood as head of local business software provider Quicken.

Cotcher has been promoted to become Quicken’s operations manager, having been at the company for 10 years, most recently overseeing a team of financial and administration staff.

Wood says he is still contracting to Quicken on an ad hoc basis during the handover period, but has a new role as chief executive of Home&dry, a Fletcher Building company.

Quicken has about 10 staff, which is less than half the number it had in late 2006. Cotcher says the company moved its support business offshore early last year and has restructured to become more sales and marketing-focused.

Wood’s company Rafael Technology was incorporated in 1998 and began trading as Quicken in 1999.

Quicken acquired Easybooks in 2006 and provides the Quickbooks range of accounting software, the Quicken line of personal finance software, Intrepid and IMS payroll products, Intrepid backup and Act! by Sage CRM.

The company has made several moves of premises in the past seven years.

It operates a Professional Services Group partner network which has two levels – the Professional Associates tier and the Accredited Consultants tier.

According to its website, it offers 25 percent margin to partners on BitDefender Internet security and antivirus, Quickbooks software, Act! Customer management software, Easybooks cashbook and Intrepid backup.
