AVG resellers to get local touch

AVG (AU/NZ), the trans-Tasman distributor for security company AVG, is transitioning local resellers who signed with AVG International to its own partner programme.

The distributor’s ANZ marketing manager Lloyd Borrett says the company is in the process of transferring 17 resellers based in New Zealand, after informing them last month they would come across to AVG (AU/NZ).

“They won’t be able to buy through AVG International anymore. We are the ones giving support to the customers in the long run, so it is a matter of moving the revenue to us.”

Borrett adds that the move will better support these resellers.

“They will get access to local programmes, support services and toll-free numbers that AVG International doesn’t have. Some New Zealand resellers had signed up with International rather than ANZ. They may have gone to the wrong website and weren’t aware of us.”

Local accounts have been established and when resellers register for the first time, they have to agree to the company’s terms and conditions.

Borrett says resellers who signed with AVG International would have been buying products online, in US dollars.

“[The change] is a sign that AVG International appreciate we rare doing a better job of supporting [local resellers]. We can provide extra benefits such as marketing collateral.”

AVG (AU/NZ) is also planning to go live soon with its New Zealand partner portal.

“It will help local partners to transact properly, rather than having to make calculations using the exchange rate. Now there will be set pricing so when the Australian pricing changes, the New Zealand pricing will change too,” says Borrett.

As a result of its partner programme review last December, AVG AU/NZ has two more marketing promotions in the pipeline.

One promotion will help resellers make more money out of renewals, while the other is to help partners sell AVG’s business products.

However, a date for these promotions has not been determined.
