Datastor switches Auckland Forum venue

Datastor has moved this year’s Forum event, its fifth, to Auckland’s Skycity Convention Centre. Last year it was held at the city’s Hilton Hotel.

CEO Dave Rosenberg says the distributor, recently acquired by Westcon, expects about 500 participants this year in Auckland, along with 25 vendors showcasing technology.

“It will be a full day and it’s targeted at both resellers and end customers, so we encourage resellers to bring their customers along.”

The Forum event was launched in 2004, attracting about 300 visitors in the first couple of years and growing to 350 by 2007. Last year there were about 500 attendees.

Vendors exhibiting this year include APC, IBM, Data Domain (owned by EMC) and Riverbed - who are offering one on one discussions with resellers.

This year’s keynote speaker is former All Black and Sevens rugby player Eric Rush, who will talk about leadership, teamwork and motivation, and share anecdotes from his rugby career.

Delegates have a choice of sessions - technical or business - with topics to include cloud computing, data recovery and Windows 7 migration.

StorageCraft will be talking about migration while Xiotech will be showcasing cloud computing. VMware’s session will focus on cloud migration and CA will be launching some new ARCserve products.

Delegates will have the chance to win BenQ monitors and Jabra bluetooth headsets.

The Forum, which is free to attend, will be held in Wellington on May 18 and Auckland on May 20.
