Want a wife, girlfriend: Get an Apple iPhone survey says

Men wielding Apple's iconic iPhone are more likely to be lucky in love according to a new survey.

Website Phones 4u surveyed 1500 women and found 54 percent of women would be more likely to date a man if he owns an iPhone, presumably regardless of looks.

Clearly with an eye on monthly subs and educational and creative apps, one respondent suggested: "If he has an iPhone then he's obviously intelligent and well-off."

Phones 4u, which offers a range of mobile phone deals, also found male iPhone users appear better groomed, with a good sense of humour and better able to communicate according to the women surveyed.

37 percent of those quizzed said that owning an iPhone makes a man seem more reliable, to which nearly all respondents went on to say that a second date would be likely.

Having an iPhone suggests users are at the very least computer savvy claimed the survey, and by default more trustworthy. "There's just something about a man who's good with computers that makes him more trustworthy," said Lucy, a 23-year-old primary school teacher from London. "If he's got the cash for an iPhone then he must be very good at his job, too."

According to Phones 4u, current UK iPhone sales are estimated at around the two million mark, with 75 per cent of the market attributed to males between the ages of 18 and 40, many likely to be looking for love.

During 2009, downloads of dating applications for smart phones in the UK soared past 250,000 added the mobile phone site.
