A Cisco advanced unified communications-specialist partner may deploy the vendor’s Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Business Edition at MoleMap, the winner of this year’s $100,000 Communications Makeover competition. MoleMap was chosen from 130 entries to win $100,000 of technology and installation services. The competition has been held for the past two years, but the value was doubled this year. Last year’s winner was Wanganui hydraulic engineering and service company Dynaflow, which beat out 169 other entries. Cisco SMB market manager Kris Boyd says it hopes to provide MoleMap with the UC Manager Business Edition, and if MoleMap doesn’t have existing IT provider agreements, a Cisco UC-specialist partner would be required as the provider. Cisco has between 10 and 15 of these partners. The presence and collaboration functionality of the system would benefit MoleMap because it has 20 remote branches, says Boyd. “The opportunity we see for [MoleMap] is to improve collaboration across its mobile workforce, clinics in New Zealand and Australia, and with the internationally-based dermatologists they work with,” says Cisco country manager Geoff Lawrie. MoleMap chief executive Adrian Bowling says video and web conferencing will improve its internal collaboration and patient interactions. “Mostly, we look forward to having the chance to really consider how the right technology can better enable our business to reach its goals.”
