Connector Systems sees a chance to extend its reseller base after signing an agreement to distribute Sanyo surveillance cameras and data projectors.
The partnership is also part of the company’s bid to broaden its agencies in the key technology areas of networking, security, communications, cabling and wireless.
General manager Mark Dasent says the products offer partners healthy margins of between 20 and 30 percent, and the opportunity to make services revenue.
Many of the company’s resellers have been looking for a wider set of products to offer, he adds.
“We were looking to expand our brands and to get some run rate brands to give us traction in our reseller base.
“We have about 500 resellers and a lot of them are looking for other products to supply, and products like projectors we see as being able to expand our offering to resellers.”
Dasent says there is an opportunity to recruit more IT specialist resellers and to grow the local market for digital IP surveillance cameras.
“The type of people buying Sanyo have been security firms focused on the analogue market. They need more IT specialists to sell the digital products and there is a big opportunity for us to develop that market for Sanyo, and for resellers to make money by installing and supporting the IP surveillance range.”
Connector Systems will focus on Sanyo’s business product range and sees councils, education and transport companies as strong potential markets, says Dasent.
He adds partners have the support of Sanyo’s local commercial manager Lee Davies, who can provide them with technical and sales training.
