MED seeks broadband suppliers

The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) is after companies to participate in a broadband deployment pilot initiative.

It forms part of the Government initiative to support the accelerated roll-out of fibre broadband to local communities.

MED wants to hear from organisations that supply the telecommunications industry, such as equipment, services, ducts, fibre and pipe companies

The initiative is planned to commence in August and will include the development and documentation of nationwide fibre deployment standards; and pilot deployments to investigate various fibre deployment techniques.

The Ministry will be establishing a deployment standards initiative webpage on the MED website. It is expected that this page will include a running list of ‘live’ questions and answers.

The deadline for replies is Friday, July 9.
