HDS prepares to provide storage services

Hitachi Data Systems is gearing up to provide installation and maintenance services in New Zealand.

The move comes in the wake of Oracle’s decision to cease OEM arrangements for Hitachi’s high-end storage systems.

At the end of June, Sun will cease to OEM Hitachi’s high-end storage systems. Oracle, which now owns Sun, indicated in January it would focus instead on Sun’s Open 7000 offerings.

Sun had sold Hitachi product in New Zealand with a five-year, prepaid maintenance option.
