Symantec has recruited a territory account manager in Wellington, a move it says is designed to support partners, particularly in the enterprise market.
The appointee, Rob Fisher, is a former account manager at Express Data’s Wellington office where he looked after tier one customers.
“My role as territory account manager is to promote and support Symantec solutions to both new and existing customers within my territory, which is from Taupo to the bottom of the South Island.”
Fisher has particular responsibility for managing relationships with enterprise customers.
“I’m finding that leveraging my skills and relationships, with both enterprise and specialist resellers, is critical to my success. Coming from a channel background, I understand and appreciate the vital role resellers play in delivering comprehensive and robust costumer solutions.”
He says the chance to work for a global company was too good an opportunity to pass by.
“After meeting the team and discussing the company’s strategic direction I knew it was the business I wanted to be part of. I’ve enjoyed the last month here at Symantec and am looking forward to the meeting the challenges this role provides.”
Asia-Pacific managing director Craig Scroggie says it has four other staff in Wellington including national sales manager Stuart Preston.
“We will look at any opportunity to build the business and than grow staff,” Scroggie says.
The company has 900 ANZ staff but does not give staff numbers for individual countries.
Scroggie adds Symantec has no plans to add categories to the New Zealand Symantec partner awards, which has two categories, the Specialist Partner of the Year and Enterprise Partner of the Year. “If it needs to change it will, but any sort of recognition programme needs to be meaningful. We’re not doing the awards for the sake of everyone feeling good. As our business continues to change we want to make sure we recognise business partners that make a difference.”
