Connector Systems has signed to distribute US-headquartered vendor FalconStor’s range of software-based data protection offerings.
These include virtual tape libraries, continuous data protection, a Network Storage Server, a file interface deduplication system and the HyperFS file system for data-intensive applications.
Connector Systems’ security and telecommunications general manager Kevin Swainson says it wants to work with local customers that have already adopted FalconStor technology.
“There are some large installs in the financial services and healthcare sectors in New Zealand. We’re looking to work with those customers that are already here and they have an idea of the partners they deal with on those solutions already. We can link them up with partners that can provide local service here.”
Swainson adds Connector Systems is already in discussions with a few local partners and once it has completed its own staff training, wants to get these partners trained too. It wants to ensure it recruits partners that provide nationwide coverage.
He says the offerings are suitable for enterprises and the larger mid-market space.
“They are still very relevant to people that want to provide virtual tape libraries or continuous data protection in anything from the mid-market range all the way up.”
He says it is an advantage that the products are software-based, because customers can keep their existing servers and other hardware.
Connector Systems doesn’t have existing agencies similar to FalconStor, but says the brand will contribute to it becoming a one stop shop for partners across its key technology areas of networking and wireless, telco and security, along with voice/cabling.
